GIGABYTE upholds the ideal of “Care about our Society and Sustainable Development” to train our talents, adopt roads and green land, plant native species, and actively participate in community outreach and development. The purpose of the “GIGABYTE Education Foundation” is to achieve the harmonious progress of the society by promoting technology education, art & culture, and upgrading your life. Through the promotion of technology education, innovation, arts & culture, and more charitable activities, we can repay society for its support and carry out the company's social responsibility. Employees are guided to be involved in all charitable activities and community-service projects, and then the community is better off with GIGABYTE's participation. More
Talent Development
“Talents are the most valuable assets of Taiwan." The curriculum in the GIGABYTE's talent development program can vary depending on the learning stages. Primary school students can learn more about computers through the factory tour, the Secret to Learning Computers, PC-DIY Technology-on-campus events and more. Students can learn the computational logic in computer science through the binary logic games that can enlighten students in the field of information technology and its basic concepts. We offer tours and practice activities related to the knowledge and technique of the technology and innovation for encouraging students to share experiences in technology and innovation. In view of the importance of high quality design for IT products and its additional value, we would like to enhance the domestic design capacity for IT products by hosting design contests for university students who pursue a career in IT product design. Students can gain practical experience and completely unleash their potential in the contests.

Cross-Disciplinary Collaborations
The “Trans Action Award”, first held in 2014. was led by the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and organized by famous technology companies such as GIGABYTE, Pegatron, Acer, and HTC. It is the first competition focusing on user experience (UX) in order to encourage industries to introduce UX. The competition calls for taking "people-oriented and returning to people's needs" as a starting point, setting talent cultivation, industrial diffusion, and innovative R&D as its aims, and is open to students and the public to participate. Specialists from businesses serve as advisors at UX workshops to assist selected teams in advanced training. The competition covers 4 major themes: business application, smart life, sustainable city, and health care. GIGABYTE has been the cooperation partners for 6 consecutive years since 2014, serving as an advisor and a teacher of the game to foster cross-field talents for the industry.

Life-long Learning
  1. Digital Love and Classes for Elders
We are living in an era where the development and change in technology and information have been rapid. In this era, it is vital that students and workers possess information technology (IT) skills. While we have devoted resources to rural areas, we must not forget that there are elders and women in the cities who still lack technological means of access to information and have no ways to learn IT skills, thus becoming “disadvantaged groups in terms of IT in the cities”. In 2006, GIGABYTE Education Foundation began to hold computer classes. Courses on smartphones and tablets were added later with the development of current trends. The aim is to offer a place for lifelong learning to anyone interested in information technology.
  2. 17 To Learn
In line with the “Guideline of Lifelong Learning Circle Subsidy to Foundation by the Ministry of Education”, GIGABYTE implements “17 to Learn” activity by combining diverse forms such as carnivals, exhibitions, learning booths, Maker workshops, etc. To encourage more people to participate in the lifelong learning circle and keep learning, the exhibitions are open to the public as well and learning activities held by NPOs are also promoted at the carnival at the same.
  3. Ability Enhancement Workshop for NPO
There are nearly 1000 educational foundations across Taiwan dedicating to making education better in Taiwan. However, many people do not know their contribution to society. As the multidimensional development of the society and the change in economic structure, and also in this era of information expansion, charity groups and NPOs are facing with a need to break away from their traditional thinking and learn to effectively attract more people and gain more supports, namely, marketing management. By holding the “Ability Enhancement Workshop”, GIGABYTE Education Foundation provides NPOs with the opportunities to learn new concepts and enhance their ability in promoting and enlarging the impacts of their charitable activities in the future.
Community Development
To repay the community for its support and provide a better living environment, GIGABYTE is duty-bound to make employees feel the joy of helping others and participate in community outreach and development through blood donation, charity’s winter aid, adaption of green land and streets, free computer classes and more activities.

Social Charity
The ideal of “Care about the Society and Sustainable Development “extended outward from the group to the community as a whole. We work together to build a positive society, allowing people in need to have a hope again. Social charities that we do include:

  1. Love from GIGABYTE: At the end of each year the GIGABYTE Education Foundation launches the "Love at GIGABYTE" end-of-year fundraising event. GIGABYTE employees, families, their children and supporters make charitable donations voluntarily through "one-time donation" (one-time deduction from salary for 12-month donations), "regular fixed-amount donation” (fixed amount deduction from monthly salary throughout a year) and "variable donation" (employee decide a donation amount which will be deducted from salary). The funds raised through these three donation methods mainly go to:
    (1) Providing scholarships to students in Xindian district who experience unexpected events in their family
    (2) Donating to the Children's Hearing Foundation's early intervention for hearing impaired children from disadvantaged families
    (3) Donating to the Tzu Chi's long-term welfare dependence and single-parent families
  2. Major Disaster Charity: GIGABYTE has launched employee donation drive for major domestic and overseas disasters such as 88 Flooding (Typhoon Morakot), Fukushima Tsunami and 206 Earthquake in Tainan . The spirit of charity is part of the GIGABYTE ethos and we always launch fundraising drive right away.
  3. Medical Donations: We have donated medical equipment, ambulances, and network environment equipment to hospitals for improving the medical environment, and also provided financial aid for medical treatments to poor patients
  4. Computer Equipment Donation: We have donated computer classrooms and computer equipment to a couple of associations which focus on cancer treatment to improve its operational efficiency and convenience.
  5. End-of-Year Charity:We donate red envelops, rice, cooking oil to those children and teenagers under living allowances and rag pickers.
Art & Culture Promotion
1. Versatile Art and Culture Promotion: We believe that art and culture activities can enrich people’s daily life, and for a long time we support and promote many types of art and culture activities. We have our own art gallery in the main lobby, and we also hold art & cultural workshops, recreational activities and many other activities. We encourage employees to directly support those low budget performing art groups by attending performances. In general, we hope to enhance employees’ aesthetic literacy, vitalize the art scene, ensure employees have quality leisure time and humanism, and then create a people-oriented corporate culture.
2. Revitalizing the Community through Reading, Art and Culture: Reading, art, and culture help people understand the world better; they also enrich people’s mind. One of our missions is to promote reading and art to the communities. We decided to support the community that was influenced by the 88 Typhoon disaster by organizing reading, art and culture activities, including the following projects:
(1)Trained mothers in the community to become storytellers and reading companions
(2)Created Hope Library and organized Life Education Reading(reading activities about life education)
(3)Hosted Themed Reading Clubs, including “Life Education”, “Identification with the Land” and “Community Reconstruction”
(4)Invited art groups to the community to do storytelling and performance

Purchase of Agricultural Products
Taiwan's agriculture production and distribution system suffers from some inherent limitations that limit the resources available to small farmers. We believe that small farmers who insist on employing environmentally friendly farming techniques should receive more support. To this end, we visit small farmers who practice friendly agriculture and partner with them on organizing internal group buys. Each employee is also given 7,200 Benefit Purchasing Points as an incentive to buy from these farmers. In this way not only our staff can buy cheaper, safer, and fresher fruits and vegetables, we have also seen farmers’ life improved, creating a win-win situation. Besides, when bumper crops or sluggish sales of agricultural products due to changing trade conditions occur and lead to an imbalance between supply and demand, GIGABYTE often partners with nearby businesses and charities to make bulk purchases in order to avoid waste and help the farmers as well. The agricultural products are then distributed to employees, suppliers, as well as local communities. Through promoting local agriculture and quality farm produce of Taiwan, GIGABYTE hopes not only to make new friends but also to help farmers pass through difficult times.

    Corporate Co-marketing
2019-2020 Bumper Crop Co-Marketing – Lime (200 boxes, approx. 3.6 tons)
July is the lime season but bumper crops in the summers of 2019 and 2020 all led to a collapse in producer prices. GIGABYTE answered the call from the Agriculture and Food Agency by placing bulk orders for quality limes from Pingtung. The AORUS statue in the main lobby of GIGABYTE headquarters ended up surrounded by gleaming, fragrant green limes, filling passing employees with expectation. Every employee received 5 to 6 fresh limes to help their appetites beat the summer heat!

2017-2018 Bumper Crop Co-Marketing – Cabbage (1,490 boxes, approx. 31.5 tons)
Cabbage farmers re-planted too much cabbage after typhoon damage in 2017 so market prices collapsed. A bumper crop in 2018 created a glut in the market as well. On both occasions, GIGABYTE hosted cabbage bonanza events and bulk orders were placed through the GIGABYTE Education Foundation. The cabbages were then distributed to employees, the local police station and other agencies. Employees were also encouraged to eat more vegetables for their health!

2017 Bumper Crop Co-Marketing – Banana (608 boxes, approx. 9.06 tons)
Last year’s high banana prices led to banana growers planting more banana trees and agricultural agencies began warning of a glut in 2017. GIGABYTE responded by joining the “Banana Carnival” campaign launched by the Social Enterprise faculty at Fu Jen Catholic University in June to help stabilized banana prices through pre-orders, and to avoid panic sellers. This would hopefully protect farmers and consumers alike. In November, GIGABYTE mobilized other companies such as AAEON and Innodisk along with charity foundations to co-market bananas from Minjian, Nantou. Participating companies and suppliers all “showed off their bananas” on the social media to express their appreciation and gratitude for the donated fruit.
