Introduction
Overclocking is more and more popular and well accepted by many
users nowadays, and it has turned into an art of overclocking
when users are able to gain the highest performance of their system
with their current hardware configurations. But here leads to
an interesting story, basically we can categorize computer users
into 3 groups; 1) Novice 2) Advance and 3) Power Users; these
3 different groups of users have different knowledge levels about
PC.
For Power Users, they
are very familiar with the architecture of PC and able to overclock
their system to gain the highest performance easily. Advance Users
are the ones, who have some knowledge about overclocking, but
in order to squeeze out every single bit of system performance,
they would have to face lots of tries and errors; and this might
lead to damages to their hardware peripherals. The 3rd group belongs
to Novice users who have not much idea about overclocking. What
they need is a PC which is highly reliable and stable for normal
usage, such as listening to MP3, watching DVD movies, browsing
on internet and playing games that do not require much computing
power.
Well, here’s a
question, what if the Novice users wanted to have a higher computing
power PC?? Of course, they could either upgrade their current
system, but it might cost them some fortune. The second solution
is by overclocking their current system, but how they are able
to do that?? They won’t have a single idea about increasing
the FSB (Front Side Bus) or Memory Clock. And not to say to the
Advance users, besides simply increasing the FSB and memory clock,
there are still lots more configurations have to be done to squeeze
out the tiny little bit of system performance.
So, is there any easier
and more intelligent method for overclocking? The answer is “Yes!!”.
The newly developed feature by GIGABYTE named as C.I.A (CPU Intelligent
Accelerator), is the easier and more intelligent way for overclocking.
Through GIGABYTE C.I.A technology, the system will intelligently
accelerate CPU computing power according to system loading. It
provides a more stable state compared to manual overclocking.
Although manual overclocked systems tend to perform at higher
speed at all times, it always results in higher power consumption
which subsequently generates higher operating temperatures. This
may cause the components and system hardware to degrade faster
than usual.
GIGABYTE C.I.A (CPU Intelligent
Accelerator) is designed to detect CPU loading during software
program’s executing, and automatically adjust CPU computing
power to maximize system performance. During loading high CPU
resources consumption tasks, such as video and audio encoding
programs or thrilling 3D games, the CPU requires more CPU computing
power; when C.I.A is enabled, it will detect the current CPU loading
and automatically accelerate the CPU computing performance, thus
allow programs to execute faster and smoother. On the other hand,
when the programs are terminated, the CPU will return back to
its initial status.
With GIGABTYE C.I.A technology,
users are able to enjoy the benefits of overclocking without having
too much trouble of manually adjustment. CPU Intelligent Accelerator
provides reasonable and acceptable overclocking options for user
to select, all what user need to do is to select the desirable
overclocking level and the rest environment settings are automatically
setup by the BIOS. Therefore, Novice users are able to enjoy the
experience of overclocking and Advance users are able to gain
more computing power easily; as for Power users, with the combination
of C.I.A and EasyTune™ 4, they are able to enjoy the arts
of overclocking.
Tips and Tricks
1) The image below shows the BIOS setup utility after pressing
"Del" key during system start up. To enter C.I.A settings,
please select "Frequency/Voltage
Control" option

Select "Frequency/Voltage
Control" to enter C.I.A. settings |
2) By default, C.I.A function is set as
"Disabled"

Default status of C.I.A. is "Disabled"
|
3) To enable C.I.A function, press "Enter"
key to toggle the options

Select "Enabled"
and press "Enter" key to accept |
4) Select the percentage of CPU acceleration, by default
it is set to +3%
acceleration

Select percentage
of CPU acceleration |
|
Note:
1) When CPU Intelligent Accelerator function is enabled,
the "CPU Host Clock Control" will be disabled;
thus you are unable to adjust "CPU Host Frequency".
2) Please make sure that your CPU is capable to handle
overclocking frequently. Please lower the percentage
of acceleration or disable CPU Intelligent Accelerator
function if your system encounters unstable state.
