Advantages of 50,000 Hour Japanese Solid Capacitors

GIGABYTE Ultra Durable™ motherboards are equipped with solid capacitors developed by leading Japanese manufacturers. With an average lifespan of 50,000 hours, these solid capacitors provide the stability, reliability and longevity essential to meet the power needs of high-end processors and other components running today's most demanding applications and games.

  1 year = 24 hr. x 365 days = 8,760 hr.
5 years = 8,760 hr. x 5 = 43,800 hr.

What are Solid Capacitors?
Solid capacitors and electrolytic capacitors both store electricity and discharge it when needed. The difference is that solid capacitors contain a solid organic polymer, while electrolytic capacitors use a liquid electrolyte.

Solid Capacitor
Separator sheet (electrolyte) impregnated with conductive polymer Solid capacitors are composed of highly electro-conductive polymer that dramatically improve stability and reliability.

Aluminum Electrolyte Capacitor
Separator sheet (electrolyte) impregnated with electrolytic solution, that can become unreliable as it heats up.

Why use Solid Capacitors?
Electro-conductive polymer used in solid capacitors helps to achieve the following characteristics:
Low ESR in High Frequency Area
High Ripple Current
Longer Life
High Temperature Capability

108dB Signal-to-Noise ratio playback
No system today is complete without offering a fully immersive High Definition experience. While most motherboards are capable of playing Blue-ray HD content, not every motherboard is equipped for playback of HD audio. GIGABYTE strongly believes that in 2011, HD audio playback is a standard specification, and as such, we have made Blu-ray audio playback a standard for all of our motherboards.

All of GIGABYTE's 2011 motherboards feature the Realtek ALC889 audio codec, or better audio solution to deliver high-performance, multi-channel HD audio. The ALC889 incorporates Realtek's proprietary converter technology which is able to achieve 108dB Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) playback quality. SNR is a comparison of the amount of signal to the amount of noise, such as hiss, present in the signal (expressed in Decibels). A higher SNR equals a better audio experience. For example, 108dB, is a high audio specification, as this means the audio signal is 108dB higher than the level of the noise.

Another important feature of the Realtek ALC889, is it supports proprietary loss-less content protection technology that protects pre-recorded content, while still allowing full-rate audio enjoyment from DVD audio and Blue-ray DVDs. It also supports 24-bit SPDIF input and output, with up to 192kHz sample rate, offering easy connection of your PC to consumer electronic products such as digital decoders and speakers.
The ALC889 also provides ten DAC channels that simultaneously support 7.1 sound playback, plus 2 channels of independent stereo sound output (multiple streaming) through the front panel stereo outputs, so you can enjoy a completely immersive 7.1 surround sound audio experience.

GIGABYTE motherboards feature a 3x USB power boost, delivering greater compatibility and extra power for USB devices. GIGABYTE's unique USB power design is also able to efficiently regulate output over the full voltage range, which greatly enhances USB device compatibility. In addition, dedicated lower resistance fuses ensure lower voltage drops, and provide more stable and plentiful power delivery.

DualBIOS™ 3TB+ HDD Support (Hybrid EFI Technology)
3TB+ HDD support is an essential new feature for 2011, and has been one of the most talked about technologies accompanying the launch of the new Socket 1155 6 series motherboards. GIGABYTE supports booting from 3TB+ HDDs on all currently shipping motherboards, through GIGABYTE's unique Hybrid EFI Technology. Hybrid EFI Technology combines the benefits of GIGABYTE's mature BIOS platform including stability and compatibility with 3rd party products with 3TB+ HDD support from EFI technology, allowing GIGABYTE to offer the best of both worlds.

GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ is a patented technology that automatically recovers BIOS data when the main BIOS has crashed or failed. Featuring 2 physical BIOS ROMs integrated onboard, GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ allows quick and seamless recovery from BIOS damage or failure due to viruses or improper BIOS updating. In addition, GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ now supports 3TB+ (terabyte) hard drive booting without the need for partitioning, and enables more data storage on a single hard drive.

What if the BIOS Fails?
Have you ever been in the middle of a BIOS update and then had it fail for some reason? Or how about executing some applications only to find out that you've been infected by some new virus that completely blows away your BIOS? Without the BIOS working the motherboard is basically not functional at all. Can you imagine the time and effort to get your motherboard fixed?
