GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ Motherboards
What if the BIOS Fails?
Have you ever been in the middle of a BIOS update and then had it fail for some reason? Or how about executing some applications only to find out that you've been infected by some new virus that completely renders your BIOS inoperable? If this has ever happened to you, you know how difficult it can be to fix the problem. Without the BIOS working, the motherboard is basically not functional at all, since it is unable to boot. Often, the only way to get your system up and running again is to send your board in for an RMA so the BIOS chip can be physically replaced.

What is the BIOS?
The BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is a chip that has the software code to operate your computer when the system is first turned on. One primary function of BIOS is to direct the computer to execute various tasks before the operating system kicks in. The BIOS also controls certain functions on your system such as power management features, overclocking settings allowing you to change CPU frequencies to tweak desired performance from our system and a host of other functions.

How does GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ Work?
GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ feature two physical BIOS ROMS mounted onto the motherboard. One chip acts as your "Main" BIOS, or the BIOS your system primarily uses during boot up. The second chip acts as a "Backup" BIOS and has the factory default BIOS version on it. If your "Main" BIOS happens to fail or stops functioning, the "Backup" will automatically take over on your next system boot with little or no down time.
Automatically invoked to recover Main BIOS, Only mission is to play the role of BIOS Recovery Agent

This process is completely automatic. When you discover you have a problem, all you need to do is shut the system down and then boot up again. The GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ does the rest. When there is a BIOS firmware failure detected, the "Backup" BIOS will first recover the "Main" BIOS file back to its factory default BIOS version, and everything is back to normal again. If the BIOS failure is due to actual hardware damage, the Backup BIOS will take over and function as the Main BIOS.

DualBIOS™ Benefits :
1. Repair failure BIOS instantly
2. Fully automated without
user intervention
3. Reduce service time

Any sort of event that causes the "Main" BIOS chip to fail, whether it is a virus attacking your system, or a user incorrectly flashing the BIOS, the "Backup" kicks in and gets your system up and running automatically.

What might cause a BIOS Failure?
1. Power shut down during BIOS update process
2. Improper Overclocking settings
3. Virus attacks
4. Hardware Failure
