The Most Alluring OLED Laptop: AERO 15 OLED’s Secret Wonders

by GIGABYTE
As early as 2019, GIGABYTE had already launched the AERO 15 OLED creator laptop which was the first equipped with an OLED display. Why do images look more vibrant and vivid on AERO 15 OLED? We will explore the things that you did not know before about GIGABYTE OLED laptop.
GIGABYTE AERO 15 OLED is equipped with color calibrated OLED display. Its outstanding display performance has amazed the press and user around the world since its launch in 2019. Earlier this year (2021), GIGABYTE launched the all-new AERO with RTX 30 series laptop GPUs.
OLED display panels, with the advantages of thinness, lightweight, high resolution, and energy-saving, it is widely used in home TV displays as well as mobile devices, such as smartphones and laptop computers. As early as 2019, GIGABYTE, the leading brand of personal computers, had already launched the AERO 15 OLED creator laptop which was the first equipped with an OLED display. Its outstanding display performance has amazed the press around the world and won the Taiwan Excellence Award and the Red Dot Product Design Award. Why do images look more vibrant and vivid on AERO 15 OLED? We will explore the things that you did not know before about GIGABYTE OLED laptop.

The exact same picture, but more vivid on the OLED screen? About Color Volume
The color gamut refers to the range of visible colors on a display device. The broader the range, the richer the colors can be displayed by the screen. As different types of panels were released in the past years, based on the traditional 2D color gamut but added the element of “brightness” as its Z-axis, the concept of 3D gamut has been introduced: the color volume, as the number of colors that can be presented by the output device with the corresponding brightness. Taking the DCI-P3 color space that was established by the American film industry as the benchmark, the traditional LCD panels can display about 74% of the DCI-P3 color space; however, the color rendering effect in different brightness is weakened due to the design of the indirect rendering effect via the guide light plate. On the other hand, the OLED panels cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. Also, as each of the pixels can emit light by itself, the colors would not be affected by the brightness. Taking the color volume as the standard, it can indeed display richer colors, about 120% DCI-P3. Therefore, compared to the traditional LCD, the same picture looks richer and more vibrant on the AERO 15 OLED.

The same brightness, but brighter on an OLED display? High Brightness and High Contrast
Compared to the brightness of 250 ~ 300 nits on traditional LCDs, OLED is equipped with higher brightness of about 500 nits. Additionally, each of the pixels can emit light by itself instead of displaying through the light guide panel. This allows it to achieve True Black and hence provides an extremely high contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, with which a normal LCD of 1,000:1 cannot be matched. The high degree of contrast on OLED screen can offer the users a "brighter" visual sensation under the same brightness and solve the "greyish-ness" on LCD. As the OLED can achieve the same performance as the LCD even in lower brightness, the actual brightness is lower and saves more power, thus the overall battery life is more advantageous than models equipped with traditional LCDs.

Sometimes, the problem of “burn-in” comes along with high brightness, which is why many of the consumers are tempted by the OLED laptops but cannot make their decision. Such an issue indeed appeared in early models of OLED mobile phones, as the colors of the screen are deteriorated or deviated after it has been used for a long time, when fixing on the same screen with a high degree of brightness. However, in recent years, the OLED technology has made significant progress and is widely used on mobile phones and laptops that show fewer burn-in problems. In GIGABYTE laptops with selected high-quality OLED displays, the design of heat dissipation is being taken under special care, while all components are strictly tested. If you have encountered any problems when using it, we welcome you to contact your local service center for examination. GIGABYTE will provide you the best product service.
Why is it more comfortable watching an OLED screen for a long time? 70% Less of the Harmful Blue-Light
AERO 15 OLED screen emits less harmful blue light, 70% less compared to the traditional LCDs. With the Rheinland's Eye Comfort Certification, it offers users a more comfortable experience. Besides, user can further reduce the harmful blue light with just a few Window’s settings.

1. In Window's personalization settings, change "Color" to "Dark".
Right Click on Desktop > Personalize >Colors > Choose you color > Dark
2. In the Office settings, change the “Office Theme” to “black” in “Account”.
Run Office App> File > Office Account > Office Theme > Black

When the AERO 15 OLED screen displays all white, it emits about 6.5% harmful blue light (21.5% for LCDs). With a few Window 10 settings, user can further reduce it to 0.8~1.3%.

Highest Resolution x Best Performance: GIGABYTE is Your 1st Option for 4K Creator Laptop
In addition to the advantages such as high resolution, wide gamut, high brightness, high contrast ratio, and low harmful blue-light, AERO 15 OLED’s panel undergo through the Xrite Pantone calibration programming before shipment, ensuring a color accuracy of Delta E < 1.

In terms of performance, GIGABYTE designs these devices with user's experience in mind, which is different from other OLED laptop on the market that pursues only lightweight and thinness at the cost of low-voltage versions of processors or the absence of an independent graphics card. Having its mobility kept, the AERO laptop is equipped with Intel H-series 45W processor and an RTX 30 laptop GPUs with the power supply design above 90W. The next-gen performance can wipe out the stereotypical impression of laptops incapable of video editing, graphic designing, 3D modeling, etc. The high performance together with the outstanding OLED visual experience, the AERO is indeed a creator’s laptop truly for creative workers.

To Harness Generative AI, You Must Learn About “Training” & “Inference”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you must be familiar with the “magic” of generative AI: how chatbots like ChatGPT can compose anything from love letters to sonnets, and how text-to-image models like Stable Diffusion can render art based on text prompts. The truth is, generative AI is not only easy to make sense of, but also a cinch to work with. In our latest Tech Guide, we dissect the “training” and “inference” processes behind generative AI, and we recommend total solutions from GIGABYTE Technology that’ll enable you to harness its full potential.
