Mar 26, 2009

Taipei, Taiwan, March 26, 2009 – GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards today is pleased to announce that it has selected Bangkok, Thailand to host the Pan Asian and African regional finals of the annual GIGABYTE Open Overclocking Championship (GO OC) 2009. Previous GO OC events have been held in Taipei, Beijing, Sydney and Jakarta, amongst others, and the event is widely regarded by the international overclocking community as the premier event on the 2009 calendar. GO OC Pan Asia and Africa will be held from April 4-6 in Bangkok's largest IT Mall, Pantip Plaza; the winning team will represent Pan Asia and Africa on June 3rd in the GO OC international final during Computex 2009.

This year's Pan Asian and African GO OC final promises to be the region's largest overclocking event ever with the top overclockers from Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam - each team has won their respective GO OC 2009 country competition in order to qualify for GO OC Pan Asia and Africa. Teams in this year's Bangkok event will be battling it out on top-notch products from GIGABYTE, Intel, NVIDIA, Kingston, Dolby and ENERMAX.

The winning team from the GO OC Pan Asia and Africa final will compete with the winners from the China, European Union and American regional finals together with the two winning teams from the landmark GO OC 2008 Best P45 Overclock and Free Style events. This epic battle will take place in the Taipei 101 building during Computex Taipei 2009 where the winning team will be declared the reigning world champions!

"GIGABYTE is pleased to hold our GO OC regional final in Bangkok so that we can demonstrate our commitment to Pan Asian and African overclockers and in particular to our friends and partners in Thailand," commented Vincent Liu, VP of Sales and Marketing for Asia, Africa and Latin America, GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. "GO OC provides a platform for us to demonstrate the market leading quality and performance of GIGABYTE motherboards and VGA cards, and we trust that this year's event will help to highlight our industry leadership on the Intel X58 platform."

The GO OC 2009 Pan Asian and African winners will not only have the honour of representing Pan Asia and Africa at the GO OC global final, they will also receive cash and hardware prizes valued over US$3,000 for their efforts. First class hardware is key to achieving record-breaking overclocks and GIGABYTE performance motherboards are designed to withstand the tremendous stresses that extreme overclockers exert on their hardware.

"Thailand has an active and friendly overclocker community and we are thrilled to be hosting our friends from around Asia and Africa for GO OC 2009. The regional final in Bangkok promises to be a top-class event that reflects the market-leading quality and technology leadership of the GIGABYTE 2oz copper PCB motherboards that will be used by the competitors," commented Danny Chang, Sales and Marketing Manager for GIGABYTE Thailand. "We wish all contestants the best of luck and look forward to a successful and fun-filled event."
