GIGABYTE Server Motherboards Ready for New Intel® Xeon® E-2200 Processor
Nov 01, 2019

November 1st, 2019, Taipei, Taiwan - GIGABYTE is proud to announce the readiness of our server motherboards for Intel’s new Xeon® E-2200 Processors for Servers, which are ideal for building entry level workstation or server systems.

Intel® Xeon® E-2200 Series Processors are optimized to deliver entry-level performance and value to a variety of different workloads, such as workstations built for CAD and content creation, software defined storage (SDS) or SAN / NAS systems, or entry-level servers designed for web serving / hosting or general purpose SMB / SOHO computing.

The new processors are socket compatible with the previous generation of Xeon® E-2100 Series Processors, utilizing the same microarchitecture and retaining the same feature set such as dual channels of 2666Mhz DDR4 memory, PCIe Gen 3.0 support and PCH functions like USB 3.1 and SATA III ports, but now feature new SKUs with higher core / thread counts (now up to 8 cores / 16 threads) and higher base / turbo frequencies (with up to 5.0GHz turbo clock on a single core), to deliver improved single-threaded and multi-threaded performance in workstation and server applications.

GIGABYTE currently offers four unique server motherboards ready for Intel’s new Xeon® E-2200 Processors that have been optimized for specific workloads and applications:

MX32-4L0 & MX32-BS0 Server Motherboards

MX32-4L0 and MX32-BS0 are both micro ATX form factor motherboards designed for server applications, featuring an onboard ASPEED AST2500 controller and dedicated MLAN port to allow for remote management.

▲ MX32-4L0

The MX32-4L0 is based on Intel’s C246 chipset and is optimized for storage applications with 8 onboard SATA III 6Gb/s ports (including two that can support SATA DOM modules). The “4L” in MX32-4L0 stands for “4 LAN” as this motherboard also features four onboard 1GbE LAN ports, as well two PCIe Gen 3.0 expansion slots for additional networking add-on cards, making it suitable to be used as the building block for a networking appliance.

▲ MX32-BS0

Meanwhile, the “BS” in MX32-BS0 stands for “Basic Saver” as this motherboard is cost optimized for general purpose entry level computing, built with Intel’s C242 chipset and featuring dual onboard 1GbE ports and 6 x SATA III 6Gb/s ports (including two that can support SATA DOM modules), as well as two PCIe Gen 3.0 expansion slots for additional add-on devices.

Both motherboards also feature an M.2 port for an NVMe SSD drive or an Intel® Optane™ Memory drive.

MW32-SP0 & MW22-SE0 Workstation Motherboards

The “SP” in MW32-SP0 stands for “super performance”, as this ATX form factor motherboard is designed for professional workstations that should deliver great performance and visuals for applications such as 4K video content creation and streaming. Based on Intel’s C246 chipset, the MW32-SP0 is suitable for Xeon® E processors with Intel® UHD Graphics P630 technology (an “iGPU” integrated with the CPU) while also featuring both DisplayPort (v1.2) and HDMI (v1.4) ports for dual 4K display output capabilities.

▲ MW32-SP0

The MW32-SP0 provides rich storage capabilities including a total of 10 onboard SATA III 6Gb/s ports, a SlimSAS port for U.2 storage devices, and an ultra-fast M.2 port (which is Intel® Optane™ Memory Ready). The board also features five PCIe expansion slots for different peripheral devices, dual onboard 1GbE LAN ports, a Realtek® ALC887 controller for high quality audio output, and six external USB ports (including four USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports for 10Gb/s transfer speeds to your external devices). ▲ MW22-SE0

Meanwhile, the “SE” in MW22-SE0 stands for “super economic”, having been designed as a cost-optimized motherboard for building entry-level SMB / SOHO workstations. The MW22-SE0 has a micro ATX form factor suitable for compact workstation towers and is based on Intel’s C242 chipset. Storage wise, the board features six SATA III 6Gb/s ports as well as an Intel® Optane™ Memory ready M.2 port, and also includes two PCIe Gen 3.0 expansion slots and an onboard 1GbE LAN port. An Aspeed AST2510 controller is included for VGA display output as well as a Realtek® ALC887 controller for high quality audio output.
