GIGABYTE Introduces First UD7 Motherboard for the P55 Platform
Bandwidth-rich GA-P55A-UD7 Becomes the New Flagship Model for the LGA1156 Platform; Takes SuperPi World Record on Launch Day
Feb 04, 2010

Taipei, Taiwan, February 4, 2010 - GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards and other computing hardware solutions today proudly launched their new flagship motherboard for the P55 chipset platform, the GA-P55A-UD7. Continuing in the UD7 tradition (after the launch of the GA-X58A-UD7), the GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD7 delivers awesome features for power users and gaming enthusiasts such as a 24 phase power design , NVIDIA® 3-Way SLI™/ATI® CrossFireX™, as well as support for USB 3.0, 3x USB Power Boost (unique to GIGABYTE), and SATA 3.0 (6Gbps).

More Bandwidth from Additional Silicon
The extreme bandwidth required for 3-Way SLI™ capability is made possible by an onboard NVIDIA NF200 chip that allows the P55A-UD7 to deliver the ultimate in graphics performance for gaming enthusiasts who demand the highest frame rates without compromising on resolution. Additional bandwidth is provided by GIGABYTE 333 Onboard Acceleration with onboard SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and Serial ATA 6Gbps from NEC® and Marvell®, providing the P55A-UD7 with an incredible amount of graphics and data bandwidth at any given time.

Record-breaking Power Stability
The P55A-UD7 motherboard boasts the highly acclaimed GIGABYTE 24 phase VRM that has been attributed with the remarkable operational stability of UD7 motherboards during extreme overclocking. Another UD7 feature that offers better stability is GIGABYTE Hybrid SILENT-PIPE 2, a fusion thermal solution that includes liquid cooling, screen cooling and an external heat sink to deliver unequalled heat dissipation from the CPU VRM area. The P55A-UD7 obtained several world records even before it’s official launch including a 1st place SuperPi score of 5.944 seconds and a 1st place PiFast score of 13.42 seconds with the Intel Core i5 670 at 7,098MHz and 6,906MHz respectively.

"The P55A-UD7 is a phenomenon if you consider the amount of additional bandwidth generating silicon onboard, constituting a breakaway from traditional motherboard design," said Tim Handley, Deputy Director of Motherboard Marketing at GIGABYTE Technology Co. Ltd. "As such, this UD7 punches way above its weight class and we’re confident that it will take many new performance records on the LGA 1156 platform."

Continuing GIGABYTE's tradition of technology and quality leadership, the GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD7 features the GIGABYTE Ultra Durable™ 3 design, with 2 ounce copper for both the Power and Ground layers to enable dramatically lower system temperature, improved energy efficiency and enhanced stability for overclocking. The GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD7 also features GIGABYTE Smart 6™ technology, offering a combination of 6 innovative software utilities that provide easier and smarter PC system management for improved system performance, faster boot-up time, secure platform management as well as easy to enable system recovery with a single click of your mouse.
