GIGABYTE Technology Makes Significant Strides towards Promoting Gaming in India
Nov 29, 2011
Mumbai, India – November 29, 2011  With an eye to promote e-Sports culture in India, and also to connect with the  local gaming community, GIGABYTE Technology(India) Pvt. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of motherboards, has embarked on a focused strategy of supporting LAN and video gaming competitions across the country.

In line with this strategy, GIGABYTE Technology sponsored the recently-held World Cyber Games (WCG) India Final, and plans to have a similar association with BYOC 2012, said to be India’s largest gaming festival, slated for January next year. Simultaneously, the company is increasingly providing support to entities that require technological help as well as sponsorship for organizing gaming events.

These entities include IT retail outlets, gaming (cyber) cafes, and engineering colleges (during their tech fests), among others.

LAN Gaming contests are fast gaining prominence as one of the most awaited and popular fixtures at annual fests of engineering / technology colleges across India. GIGABYTE Technology has recently embarked on a concerted initiative to sponsor such gaming events, while also conducting related training sessions for students at the venue. As part of the endeavor, in addition to knowledge-sharing, GIGABYTE is also providing its premium motherboards as prizes for winners of the gaming contests.

Commenting on the company’s renewed focus on the gaming segment, Sunil Grewal, Sales Head – India, GIGABYTE Technology, said, “We feel that gaming has finally come of age in India, where you see PC gaming gaining popularity almost as fast as social networking gaming or mobile gaming. Being the company which earlier this year had launched G1-Killer,the world’s first motherboard series designed solely for elite gamers, GIGABYTE Technology is naturally delighted to do its bit for the Indian gaming enthusiast.

“We don’t want to stop only at providing gaming motherboards with state-of-the-art onboard solutions from industry heavy hitters including Creative and Bigfoot Networks, as well as many additional and exclusive GIGABYTE features. We also want to offer an attractive platform for dedicated gamers to showcase his / her skills, by promoting quality gaming events in the country,” Grewal added.

GIGABYTE’s dedicated gaming motherboards named the G1-Killer series, consists of the G1.Assassin, G1.Sniper and G1.Guerrilla. Recently, it had launched the new G1.Sniper 2 motherboard, designed for extreme gaming on the latest Intel® Z68 chipset and Intel® i7 Core ‘Sandy Bridge’ processors.
