A Powerhouse of a Motherboard Introducing GIGABYTE's GA-8KNXP Ultra-64
Mar 17, 2004
Gigabyte Technology proudly announces the release of its latest Intel® 875P chipset-based motherboard, the GA-8KNXP Ultra-64. Along with support for an 800MHz FSB Intel® Pentium® 4 processor with Hyper-Threading Technology, the GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 comes complete with Dual Channel DDR 400, AGP 8x, and Performance Acceleration Technology (PAT). With such an array of out performing features, for ultimate performance in speed while on-board Serial-ATA and SCSI controllers with RAID support ensure optimal data transfer and security. The most enticing feature of the GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 is the incorporation of new-generation architectures from 64-bit PCI-X interface to high-quality 7.1-channel audio to onboard Gigabit LAN for truly unparalleled power and performance.

Advances in Speed and Stability
Heard of PCI-X? Well, the GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 has it! Short for PCI-Extended, the 64-bit PCI-X is a compatible extension of the conventional PCI bus and runs at speeds of up to 66MHz, providing burst transfer rates double that of PCI. Due to a new HR south bridge, the GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 offers two 66MHz PCI-X slots to provide critical I/O bandwidth needed for applications such as Gigabit Ethernet, and SCSI interconnects. In addition to performance improvements, PCI-X is backward compatible with conventional PCI systems at the system, device driver, and the adapter level.
The GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 is the very first Gigabyte motherboard to include the successor to Gigabyte’s well-recognized Dual Power System (DPS), the all-new DPS-Gold. The DPS-Gold is an on-board six-phase power circuit aimed at providing a more durable and stable power circuit to the CPU for increased system stability. With an additional 3-phase power circuit DPVRM (Dual Power Voltage Regulator Module), the GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 platform is able to effectively sustain a larger electric current of up to 150A.

Numerous Onboard Features
The GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 comes with a host of onboard features, one of which is 7.1-channel audio with the Universal Audio Jack (UAJ) feature. Audio installation is a breeze with the UAJ feature and with 7.1-channel audio capability, your PC can function as an authentic home theater, offering true surround sound and virtual sound for 7.1 speaker configurations.
The GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 also integrates the latest SCSI interface, the Adaptec Ultra320 SCSI offers data transfer rates of up to 320MB/s per channel for mainline storage, streaming video and audio, and other bandwidth-intensive applications. As well, the motherboard also features an integrated Silicon Image 3114 chip, a single-chip PCI to 4-port Serial ATA RAID host controller to support up to four SATA drives supporting RAID 0,1, and 0+1, making the GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 ideal for applications such as servers, workstations and storage systems featuring peripherals with this new storage interface standard
Finally, the GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 includes an integrated Intel® Gigabit Ethernet controller for high-speed networking. The onboard Intel® Gigabit Ethernet controller along with Intel's Communication Streaming Architecture (CSA) allows for bi-directional Gigabit networking for higher performance and lower latency.
The GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 encompasses a wide array of outperforming features. From cutting-edge technologies to evolutionary architecture, the GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 stands in a category all its own.
