CDP(Continuous Data Protection) | 連續資料保護

  • What is it?
Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is a method of data backup, where backup performed every time any change to the data is made. Essentially this method makes it possible to restore a system to any previous point in time.

CDP works by recording any changes to the data when it is being sent from the data source to the storage target. These changes are then recorded in a change log which is stored on the CDP system in a separate location.

  • Why do you need it?
Since a CDP system records all changes to the data right up until the time of failure, it essentially makes it possible to restore a system to any previous point in time before the data was corrupted or lost, solving the problem of a “backup window” where there is a risk of losing data created between two scheduled backups.

This method of backup provides excellent protection against malware, ransomware and other threats, as well as accidental deletion of data or sabotage, and may also be necessary for compliance with data protection regulations in some countries or regions.
