GIGABYTE Expands Support for 4th Gen AMD EPYC™ Processors for Cloud Native Computing and Technical Computing
New processors offer up to 128 CPU cores or up to more than 1GB L3 Cache
Jun 14, 2023

June 13, 2023 ─ Giga Computing, a subsidiary of GIGABYTE and an industry leader in high-performance servers, server motherboards, and workstations, today announced support for the latest 4th Gen AMD EPYC™ processors. The new processors, based on “Zen 4c” architecture and featuring AMD 3D V-Cache™ technology, enhance Giga Computing’s enterprise solutions, enabling superior performance and scalability for cloud native computing and technical computing applications in GIGABYTE enterprise solutions. To date, more than thirty unique GIGABYTE systems and platforms support the latest generation of AMD EPYC 9004 processors. As time goes on Giga Computing will roll out more new GIGABYTE models for this platform, including more SKUs for immersion-ready servers and direct liquid cooling systems.

“For every new generation of AMD EPYC processors, GIGABYTE has been there, offering diverse platform options for all workloads and users,” said Vincent Wang, Sales VP at Giga Computing. “And with the recent announcement of new AMD EPYC 9004 processors for technical computing and cloud native computing, we are also ready to support them at this time on our current AMD EPYC 9004 Series platforms.”

The new 4th Gen AMD EPYC™ processors, powered by “Zen 4c” architecture, offer the performance, density, energy efficiency and compatibility needed to provide no-compromise computing for growing cloud native environments and technical computing.

Cloud Native Workloads

Energy and space-efficient concerns are remedied with leading thread density processors that maximize rack density and scaling. These new 128 and 112 high performance “Zen 4c” cores come in two SKUs: AMD EPYC 9754 and 9734.

“4th Gen AMD EPYC™ processors deliver the compute capabilities our customers require for their most demanding scalable cloud services and infrastructure,” said Lynn Comp, corporate vice president, Server Product and Technology Marketing, AMD. “Our proven “Zen” and chiplet based architecture allowed us to build a highly efficient server CPU offering that addresses the rapidly evolving needs of the modern data center.”

Technical Computing Workloads

Electronic design automation (EDA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and finite element analysis (FEA) greatly benefit from the significant increase in L3 cache in the three new processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology.

“Technical computing relies heavily on large data sets. With AMD 3D V-Cache technology, customers can now leverage over 1GB of L3 cache to deliver impressive latency and throughput,” said Lynn Comp, corporate vice president, Server Product and Technology Marketing, AMD. “4th Gen AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology will help to accelerate product development productivity by equipping customers with high performance CPUs to accelerate validation of challenging simulations and models.”

At Giga Computing, we are constantly striving to offer greater choices in server technology to our customers. And this support for the new AMD families of processors means we will have system updates available to download and future systems will ship with the latest firmware. By being ready and having choices, this allows our customers to cherry-pick IT infrastructure that is tailored to their requirements and ambitions.
