Showcasing AMD-Based Solutions and Successes at Annual GIGABYTE-Weikeng Partner Conference
EPYC™ Series Processers Offer Value and Performance, Bringing HPC to Particle Physics, Space Exploration, and Climate Change Studies
Dec 04, 2020

Taipei, Taiwan, December 4th 2020 –GIGABYTE held this year’s annual partner conference with Weikeng Industrial Co. at the Howard Plaza Hotel in Kaohsiung today. Speakers presented case studies about national research institutes using GIGABYTE solutions powered by AMD processors, and also went into detail about how high performance computing (HPC) and other technological breakthroughs can improve various aspects of our daily lives, proving the versatility of AMD products and paving the way for exciting next-generation solutions in 2021.

The AMD EPYC™ 7002 series of CPUs stand out as exemplary processors in the x86 architecture ecosystem, offering great value and superb performance. Coupled with GIGABYTE’s H-Series High Density Servers, G-Series GPU ServersR-Series Rack Servers and other products, they are able to optimize HPC applications to their fullest extent. The 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ series of microprocessors are based on the 7nm manufacturing technology; paired with the recently launched GIGABYTE BRIX, it is suitable for use at home, in the office, or in retail settings. Both the EPYC™ and Ryzen™ series offer the fast speeds of the PCIe Gen 4 interface. GIGABYTE keeps a close eye on AMD’s roadmap to launch corresponding solutions. New solutions in 2021 are highly anticipated.

GIGABYTE products based on AMD processors apply the power of HPC to different user scenarios, such as artificial intelligence and big data.

GIGABYTE solutions based on AMD processors are already being used by many prestigious research institutes. Case studies include Waseda University in Japan, which uses G221-Z30 and W291-Z00 to run computer simulations and prepare for extreme weather events brought on by global warming. The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) uses G482-Z51 to process the 40 terabytes of raw data that its Large Hadron Collider (LHC) generates every second. The German Aerospace Center (DLR) utilizes H261-Z60 and R281-Z94 to prepare for the Mars Moon Exploration (MMX) Program; using GIGABYTE’s customized liquid cooling technology, the DLR was able to build an eco-friendly data center that did not need air conditioning, helping our Earth while exploring the depth of space.

GIGABYTE’s mission is “Upgrade Your Life”; by working with AMD’s powerful processors, industry-leading HPC capabilities were applied to various improvements that will benefit our society. Scientific inventions are meant to solve actual problems. GIGABYTE is dedicated to connecting technological advances with everyday life, so we can look forward to a better, smarter world of tomorrow.
