Year by year, GIGABYTE’s performance in the Taiwan Symbol of Excellence competition is more and more impressive. For the past eight consecutive years, it has earned a 100% success rate for submitted products, an accomplishment unmatched by any other company in the IT industry. From results of the 13th annual Taiwan Symbol of Excellence competition announced on Jan. 03, all 27 GIGABYTE products entered received this prestigious award. GIGABYTE is the only motherboard manufacturer to win the Taiwan Symbol of Excellence eight years running. Even more exciting is that N203 Notebook and GN-A17GU Wireless Access Point have been nominated for National Awards of Excellence. In past years, a number of GIGABYTE products have been bestowed with Gold and Silver National Awards of Excellence, the highest product design honors in Taiwan. These include its Flex Pointer presentation kit, notebook computer and home entertainment center. This year’s recognition of the GN-A17GU Wireless Access Point highlights GIGABYTE’s achievements in developing communications products, and demonstrates the strength of its R&D team.

The Taiwan Symbol of Excellence competition and promotion is sponsored by the Board of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and carried out by the Taiwan Trade Development Council (TAITRA) as part of an effort to improve the international image of Taiwan’s products. Before being allowed to carry the Innovalue mark, associated with the Taiwan Symbol of Excellence Award, products undergo strict evaluation in five categories: research and development/innovation, design, quality system, market position and brand awareness. TAITRA has registered the Innovalue mark in more than 90 countries and regions around the globe, and works to promote the mark both at home and abroad, building awareness among members of industry, as well as consumers. In addition, National Awards of Excellence nominated products are displayed in special Taiwan Innovalue cases in the CKS International Airport and the domestic Taipei Songshan Airport. Through such exhibitions, domestic and foreign travelers become acquainted with the Taiwan Innovalue mark and the quality products that carry the mark.

Among the 27 GIGA-BYTE products that have been honored in the 13th annual Taiwan Symbol of Excellence competition are four motherboard models, four graphics cards, 11 server, networking and communications products, three notebook computer models and five personal computers and peripherals. Among them, two products, N203 Notebook and GN-A17GU Wireless Access Point, won especially high praises from the judging panel and were nominated for National Awards of Excellence.

According to the organizer’s press release announcing the 13th annual Taiwan Symbol of Excellence award winners and National Awards of Excellence nominees, N203 Notebook was selected for nomination because it possesses comprehensive functions and input/output ports, as well as a refined design and stylish color options. It also comes with unique two-side LED indicator and CD/DVD play hot key.

The same press release also noted that GIGABYTE GN-A17GU access point is the only one that is upgradeable. It comes with built in Super G 802.11g. Depending on the needs of the user it can be upgraded easily and inexpensively to 11a by inserting an 11a adapter card into its hidden expansion slot. This allows enjoyment of the broadest spectrum of wireless networking. This model also comes with AP Manager software developed by GIGABYTE. The program can be installed into a computer for easy and remote monitoring and maintenance of all GIGABYTE AP products in the same network. In addition, the GN-A17GU can be hung on a wall or placed upright or flat on a desk, to suit the environment or the user’s individual style.
