  • 區域網路是什麼?
    區域網路(LAN)代表在特定區域內,連接電腦、伺服器和其他裝置的電腦網路。所謂的特定區域可能是辦公大樓或大學校園,所使用的技術通常是乙太網路或Wi-Fi。透過區域網路連接裝置,可快速彼此溝通和傳送資訊,速率可能高達1,000 Mbps以上。如果區域網路上有一台裝置可以透過廣域網路(WAN)連接網際網路,那其他裝置也可以透過它連上網際網路。

  • 為何需要?
    伺服器可以透過區域網路互相連接,組成所謂的運算叢集,集結每台伺服器的運算資源,達成共同目標。在巨大的資料中心伺服器農場當中,扮演運算、儲存或網路角色的不同裝置,也可以透過區域網路互相連接,就如一台巨大電腦。使用區域網路還有別的好處,就是提升伺服器的可擴充性,依照特殊需求,連接其他的伺服器或不同的裝置。
