    The GS-R22PHL is an HPC cluster node designed and optimized for computing accelerators such as the Intel® Xeon Phi™ and Nvidia® Tesla® product lines, this 2U rack offers nothing less than the ability to receive up to 8 double slot GPU/MIC cards when the rest of the market offers 2U racks that can receive up to 6 cards at best.

    Those 8 cards are supported by a central backbone made of a dual socket platform supporting the Intel Xeon processors E5-2600 product family, a dual 10G BASE-T and an optional dual 10G SFP+ LAN controllers, up to 512GB of ECC memory, and 8 x 2.5” hot-swappable HDD bays supporting SAS 6Gbs (option) or SATA 6Gbs revisions

    This unprecedented computing density will satisfy the needs of organizations seeking the largest amount of computing power and a minimal footprint at the same time. Indeed, the GS-R22PHL is a highly energy efficient system thanks to Gigabyte’s innovative rack design and internal placement. Thanks to its power saving architecture, including high performance 80mm fans and a top efficiency (80PLUS Platinum level) 1600W redundant power supply, this product shows excellent airflow and thermal properties and manages to keep the power consumption at the lowest levels possible. This combination of large computing capability, high energy efficiency and compact 2U footprint allows the GS-R22PHL to deliver extreme megaflops per watt performance and therefore to help the most advanced HPC infrastructures to significantly drive their energy consumption down while boosting the execution of their applications.

    With such power, this system is able to offer vast gains in processing time for the most computing intensive applications, from cutting-edge rendering farms to the latest simulations in leading scientific research.
  • Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2600 V2 Product Family
    Deployable through a simple BIOS update, the support of the Intel Xeon processors E5-2600 V2 product family delivers the benefits of the 22nm tri-gate process technology to the high end server industry. Those benefits include, among others, higher frequencies, higher core counts (up to 12 cores / 24 threads) and larger last-level caches, but especially a much more varied mix of core/frequencies with notably the introduction of a new dual socket workstation segment. This new die shrink also allows for overall energy efficiency increase, with up to 30% average decrease in idle power consumption.
    Finally, virtualization applications will benefit from increased performance thanks to the Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller (APIC) technology, and more security features are included in the mix as well, such as the Intel® Platform Protection Technology with OS Guard, and Intel® Data Protection Technology with Secure Key.

    Always eager to go beyond the industry standards, GIGABYTE’s engineering has enabled through its capabilities in design, PCB layout and BIOS fine-tuning the support of 1866 MHz memory frequency running at higher DIMM population (8 DIMMs per socket) where Intel’s standard and the rest of the market’s products will typically operate memory speed downgrade and support 1866 MHz at lower DIMM population only (4 DIMMs per socket). GIGABYTE therefore offers at launch on its 2011 socket based products this unique feature which will benefit to high density and memory intensive applications, such as high frequency trading, telecommunication networks, mobile data transfers, and so on.
