  • 浸沒式冷卻是什麼?
    浸沒式冷卻(immersion cooling)是液冷技術(liquid cooling)中的一種,透過將伺服器直接浸泡在不導電的液體中,將零組件產生的熱能傳導給流體,不需要其他主動式的冷卻零件,譬如散熱鰭片、導熱銅管或風扇等等,溫度上升的液體透過循環冷卻方式再回流繼續吸收熱能,有助於提升資料中心的能源效率。

    浸沒式液冷分為兩種類型,各自有不同的運作原理:

    單相浸沒式液冷運作方式
    伺服器及其他IT設備浸沒至導熱的介電液體槽中,流體不會改變其形態,始終保持為液態。透過冷卻液分配裝置 (Coolant Distribution Unit; CDU)推動液體槽內的流體循環,進一步將導熱液抽送到水箱外的熱交換器,將熱量傳遞到第二級冷卻迴路,例如建築物冷水循環系統、或外部的空氣。

    ●兩相浸沒式液冷運作方式
    將伺服器浸沒至低黏度、不導電的冷卻液中,透過冷卻液與發熱零件的直接接觸以及液體循環來帶走運算設備的熱能;同時由於液體低溫蒸發的過程將熱從液體池內轉移到池外空間,通過冷凝管等熱交換裝置,使蒸汽再次冷卻凝結流回水槽中,如此週而復始,不斷循環。

  • 為何需要?
    透過浸沒式冷卻技術直接將硬體置入特殊的不導電電子工程液中,因為不用再考慮傳統空氣熱對流的因素,伺服器可以設計的極為緊密,創造出最佳的硬體密度,而去除傳統風扇的優勢就在大幅降低資料中心的室內噪音,穩定改善電力使用效率PUE,因為捨棄外部冷卻的零件,所以也相對減少了需要維修的零組件。
